Is Pererenan the new Canggu?

Everything is always changing and evolving in Bali and the neighbourhoods that are ‘hot’ today, might not be tomorrow anymore. Many years ago Kuta was thé place to be in Bali but over time it shifted to Seminyak. For along period of time everybody wanted to be in Seminyak because of the vibrant nightlife and cool atmosphere. But again, that didn’t last as there was, yet again, a newer and hotter place that came in the picture: Canggu!

While Canggu at the moment is the hottest and most popular area for a lot of digital nomads and tourists, more and more people are looking for the next best thing, yet again…and that area is Pererenan! And although Pererenan is now still a quiet Balinese village, it will surely become the next Hotspot of Bali!

Where is Pereranan?

Pererenan is a quiet village, located next to Canggu. This part is still spared of large tourist crowds and offers tranquility amidst the rice fields. The good thing is, it’s still super close to the popular Echo Beach and Batu Bolong, yet without tons of tourists.

So if you are looking for a more authentic Bali without massive crowds, yet close to a lot of good attractions and restaurants, Pererenan is the place to be!

Maybe one thing you should now is that, just like Canggu beach, the sand at Pererenan beach is black! If you are looking for white, pristine beaches and turquoise water, it’s better to go to one of the neighbouring islands or all the way south to the Bukit Peninsula (Uluwatu).
