How to get quickly through the airport when landing in Bali - Use the new E-gates!

Thinking about your next Bali adventure but dreading the long lines at the airport? Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered! Say hello to Bali's new E-gates – your fast track to paradise.  The newly installed auto-gates can be found in both the international arrival and departure terminals and with a bit of preparation, you can breeze through customs and start your vacation stress-free. Here's how you can do it:

E-gates at Bali airport

1. Prepare your documents before you fly

Before you jet off to Bali, make sure to get these three things done online:

1. Apply for an E-Visa (Visa on Arrival): No more waiting in line at the airport to get your visa stamped. Apply for your E-VOA online, and you're set! You can apply for it here.

2. Pay your Tourist Tax: Yes, there’s a tourist tax, but paying it online saves you time at the airport. Pay your tourist tax here.

3. Fill out the customs declaration: Filling out the customs declaration form online means you won’t have to do it on the plane or at the airport. Do it ahead of time here.

The form can be completed 3 days before arrival in Bali.  One form per family is allowed. You can save the QR code to your phone or you can print it out. If you arrive in Bali and go to the customs checking area without the QR code you will be asked to go and complete the form and queue again

Once you've completed these steps, everything syncs up with your passport – magic!

2. Who can use the autogates at Bali airport?

At the moment, only tourists who meet specific criteria can use the E-gates for arrival and departure, so If you want to glide through the E-gates, make sure you meet the following criteria:

  • Tourists with a biometric passport: Your passport should have a chip that stores your biometric data. Wondering if your passport qualifies? Look for a small golden square with a circle in the middle, located beneath your national emblem. This symbol means that the ID page of your passport can be scanned by the automated systems now in place at Bali Airport

  • Pre-approved Visa (Including E-VOA): Ensure your visa is sorted before you arrive.

3. Who can’t use the autogates at Bali Airport?

Unfortunately, the E-gates aren’t for everyone. Here’s who will still need to queue up:

  • Tourists buying Visa on Arrival at the airport: If you decide to get your visa at the airport, you'll have to wait for an immigration officer to stamp your passport.

  • Kids younger than 14 Years old: Sorry, kiddos. Anyone under 14 will need to go through the regular process with their accompanying adult.

Why choose the E-Gates at Bali airport?

Using Bali’s new E-gates is a no-brainer if you want to cut down on waiting time and get your vacation started ASAP. Just imagine – less time standing in line and more time sipping cocktails by the beach!

So, next time you're planning your trip to Bali, remember to get your E-visa, pay your tourist tax, and fill out that customs declaration form before you leave. It’s a small effort for a huge reward!
